Red Seal Journeyman Landscape Horticulturalist
Double BSc. Biology and Environmental Studies
Originally from Okotoks, Christina grew up in the gardens where her skills developed at an early age. While she attended the University of Victoria, she was able to hone her horticultural skills through year round gardening. Having spent her summers growing up outside, Christina developed an inherit love of the natural world and wanted to conserve it. With Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology and Environmental Studies, Christina brings key knowledge of plant-human interactions, as well as plant-environment interactions. This knowledge allows Christina to focus on sustainable gardening practices that help conserve the environment and natural world.
With over 10 years of gardening and landscaping experience, Christina began to notice a disconnect between standard gardening and maintenance practices and the natural world. As a society, we work against the land and environment, instead of working with it. Christina started Green Gardens so we can bring you sustainable, chemical free, and water wise garden care and landscaping. With a focus on low emission machinery, Green Gardens can create a beautiful area for you to enjoy!
Although we may not realize it, pollinators play a very important role in our day to day lives, they are responsible for the food we eat, the crops we harvest, and the plants we enjoy in our yards. Pollinators are organisms that help to transfer pollen from flower to flower, fertilizing plants and creating genetic diversity as they go. Without pollinators, we would live in a very different and desolate world. At Green Gardens we recognize the importance of these species and garden with them in mind. We specialize in native plants, wildflowers, and bee garden installations because we want to help create a healthy habitat for these species.
